Queensbury vertical files, [ca. 1760]-2002.

The Queensbury Vertical Files contain material pertaining to the history of the town of Queensbury, located in southern Warren County, N.Y. These files consist mainly of newspaper clippings, pamphlets, articles, and reports, but some other types of ephemera are also included, such as programs or announcements of events, press releases, advertisements, and a few manuscripts and pictures. There are files on businesses, churches, organizations, schools, maps, roads, and land use and zoning. Major files exist for Adirondack Community College, the Adirondack Balloon Festival, and the localities of Glen Lake and West Mountain, situated within the town of Queensbury.

Collecting of photographs by Crandall Library evidently began through the efforts of Sherman Williams, who was a founder of the New York State Historical Association and an advisor to Henry Crandall. Photographs may have been collected beginning with or near the founding of Crandall Library in 1892. Others who were influential in developing this collection were Robert C. Carter and Arthur S.
